Hey Y’All! Chelsea Mayton, here. I’m pretty stoked to step into the Director of Communications role with COSNA. I’m a Colorado native born and raised in the high desert of southern Colorado surrounded by vast dark starry skies and terrain of buffalo grass, yucca and juniper trees. I am a Denverite now, growing in a new chapter of life’s adventures. I have my BS and MSC in Psychology. My alma mater is Colorado State University and University of Phoenix. Now I am a Regis University CHOICE BSN student. Nursing is one of the most liberating professions. We can pursue any specialty, earn a livable wage, and have the time to enjoy life’s wonders beyond our careers. I challenge each of you to consider active involvement with COSNA and NSNA. I am grateful for this leadership experience!
Hello! My name is Aaron Opperman, and I am excited to be the new Director of Community Outreach for COSNA. I graduated from Colorado State University with a Psychology degree and then served in the Peace Corps as a community health volunteer, serving in Rwanda, Africa. After returning to Colorado, I perused my EMT certification and continuing health care education. I am currently an EMT at Children’s Hospital Colorado Emergency Department and in Regis Universities CHOICE BSN program graduating in December 2022. I live in Parker with my wonderful wife, one dog, and two cats. We most enjoy trying to get out and enjoy the beautiful Colorado hiking trails. Our dog Cali loves to go with us and often comes back half-covered in mud. We are an energetic family and motivated to organize some outreach events with COSNA!
Nicole is currently a senior in the BSN program at Platt College in Aurora. Nicole has been an EMT for 7 years and hopes to work in an emergency department upon graduation in June. Although Nicole is from the Boston area and is a Boston Bruins fan, she loves Colorado and all the live sports Denver has to offer. In her free time Nicole loves exploring Colorado with her white husky, Kona who she got a week before being accepted into nursing school!
I am Laura Hyre, and I will be serving as the Membership Director. I just graduated May 8th, 2021 with my BSN degree. I moved from Alabama (lived there for 14 years) and moved to Colorado 2 years ago after being accepted to Colorado Christian University Nursing Program. I am married with 3 children and 1 dog. I work full time as a medical assistant/scribe and while going to school full-time the last 2 years. Now, I am studying for the NCLEX to pass another mile marker. I would like to work as a Pediatric Nurse and hope to get accepted to Children's Hospital CO Residency program. I am open to any door God has for me as a new nurse graduate. I have been awarded the Dean’s List, I am a member of different nursing societies such as ANA, NSNA, SPN, and others. I look to learning and growing not only as a new nurse, but as a person. I am thankful for this opportunity to help serve with the CNSA and lead other nursing students and new nurses in this journey together.
